He saw a sign with a phone number on it and came back home to call the number. It was the owner of the property. He didn’t live in the state. He said nobody had access to be able to get in nor was there phone line accesss to the property. Which was later confirmed by the phone company. We had no idea who this was. My dad had to go back to class the following evening.

But he asked a family friend to come by and stay with us. Nobody called. Then he hung up and told my mom he was going to the mill. He got off the porch and the phone rang. Our friend ran back inside and answered -the man only laughed. My parents friend was enraged. He Was a big guy. He grabbed an ax.. and started across the street.
